Problem & Goal

ZoomAndGo started as an ambitious consumer-focused startup aiming to provide unbiased hotel reviews, predating platforms like TripAdvisor. The core innovation was a map-based UI, built before Google Maps, which integrated hotel data with latitude and longitude points to display hotels alongside nearby points of interest.

As the travel tech landscape evolved, ZoomAndGo pivoted to a B2B platform for corporate travel agents. The goal was to leverage their mapping data and technology to build a booking platform that enabled companies to:

  • Control travel costs by enforcing policy compliance.
  • Ensure duty of care by restricting bookings to company-approved hotels.
  • Simplify the user interface for travel agents working in a high-pressure corporate environment.

My role was to redesign clunky, inefficient interfaces into intuitive, streamlined tools for travel agents, ensuring the platform was both functional and user-friendly.

Solution & Process

  1. Mapping and Data Integration
    • Worked on UI designs that combined ZoomAndGo’s mapping technology with hotel data to create a seamless visualization of corporate-approved hotels alongside key points of interest.
    • Optimized the presentation of complex datasets, ensuring that travel agents could quickly assess options within company policy guidelines.
  2. Redesigning the Agent Interface
    • Took on the challenge of redesigning cumbersome legacy interfaces, creating a clean, responsive design that catered to the specific needs of corporate travel agents.
    • Focused on usability, reducing the steps required to search, filter, and book hotels while maintaining access to critical policy and duty-of-care information.
  3. Pivot to B2B Excellence
    • Supported the company’s transition from a consumer platform to a B2B corporate booking tool, aligning the UI with enterprise-level functionality and compliance requirements.
    • Ensured the UI could scale with the platform’s growing feature set, balancing complexity with ease of use.
